Register as a New Patient

We are using a new online service called Register with a GP surgery that makes it easy to register with this GP surgery.

Just fill in this quick online form to start the process. You do not need proof of address or immigration status, ID or an NHS number.

The service is designed and run by the NHS, so your personal information is safe. It cuts our administrative workload and makes it easier for you to register.

paper form is still available if you need one.

Temporary Registrations

If you are ill while away from home or if you are not registered with a doctor but need to see one you can receive emergency treatment from the local GP practice for 14 days. After 14 days you will need to register as a temporary or permanent patient.

You can be registered as a temporary patient for up to three months. This will allow you to be on the local practice list and still remain a patient of your permanent GP. After three months you will have to re-register as a temporary patient or permanently register with that practice.

To register as a temporary patient simply contact the local practice you wish to use. Practices do not have to accept you as a temporary patient although they do have an obligation to offer emergency treatment. You cannot register as a temporary patient at a practice in the town or area where you are already registered.

Translation Services and Non English Speakers

At our practice, we are committed to providing accessible and inclusive healthcare for all patients.

If English is not your first language, we can arrange interpreting services to support you during your appointment. Professional interpreters can help you communicate with your GP, nurse, or other healthcare professionals, ensuring you fully understand your care and treatment options.

We can provide:

  • Telephone interpreting
  • Video interpreting
  • Face-to-face interpreters (subject to availability and advance notice)

If you require an interpreter, please inform our reception team when booking your appointment, or as soon as possible before your appointment date, so that arrangements can be made.

We aim to ensure that all patients can access healthcare information and services in a way that meets their communication needs.

Fact Sheets

These fact sheets have been written to explain the role of UK health services, the National Health Service (NHS), to newly-arrived individuals seeking asylum. They cover issues such as the role of GPs, their function as gatekeepers to the health services, how to register and how to access emergency services.

Special care has been taken to ensure that information is given in clear language, and the content and style has been tested with user groups.
